Engineers Week 2023 - Creating the Future

This week is Engineers Week (Feb. 19-25), and Ball Aerospace is proud to celebrate our engineers, technical professionals, scientists and all the team members who support our missions. It is a time to pause, look back and celebrate the amazing accomplishments we’ve experienced over this past year.

I can see this spirit of our engineering and resiliency daily as I look across the missions we support. For many of us, the work we’re doing contributes to our nation’s security, the future of space infrastructure or even future generations through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) events -- changing and contributing to society, all while inspiring future scientists and engineers.

Here are a few examples that showcase our capabilities as a mission partner and the resiliency of our team:

• After building the cryogenic actuators, mirror segments and electronic control boxes, we viewed the James Webb Space Telescope’s first images with the world.
• The Ball-built Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) launched aboard NOAA’s Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2), which is now known as NOAA-21.
• Our phased array antennas from Ball Aerospace’s Tactical Solutions strategic business unit flew on the Orion spacecraft for NASA’s Artemis I mission in December of 2022.
